RESOLVED: Intermittent email issues with Outlook and mobile devices

The Office of Information Technology is aware of an issue with CCC email which may be affecting some of our users. The issue affects people using Outlook and mobile devices such as smart phones or iPads. Email access from http://mail.ccc.edu is NOT affected. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working with Microsoft to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

If you have any trouble accessing your email from Outlook or from a mobile device, please open a web browser and visit: http://mail.ccc.edu. There, you can send and receive email and access your Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks as usual.

Again, we apologize for this inconvenience and will let you know as soon as this issue has been resolved. Student email is unaffected by this issue.

CCC makes Gartner Research available to Students, Faculty, and Staff

Gartner Research, “the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company”, is now available to CCC students, faculty, and staff. This new resource has been added to the list of CCC Library Databases. Users will be prompted to enter their CCC user name and password. Or, you can access it at: https://apps.ccc.edu/Gartner/.

CCC Phone Directory is now available

The CCC Phone Directory is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working diligently to resolve the issue ASAP. In the meantime, you may download an Excel spreadsheet containing the same data or contact the switchboard at x2500.

Emergency Maintenance to Library System scheduled for 5 pm, Thursday, March 29

Emergency maintenance will be performed on the City Colleges of Chicago Library System to address an issue with off-campus access to the ProQuest database. This work will take place tonight, Thursday, March 29 between 5 and 6 pm.
Access to the library catalog and library research databases may be unstable during this time. Other library modules such as circulation and cataloging will not be affected. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact: cohelpdesk@ccc.edu

RESOLVED: Issue displaying some pages on the CCC website

Some pages on the City Colleges of Chicago website are not displaying correctly. Specifically, the college department pages, and the college and district program pages. We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We will update this post as needed.

Credit registration enhancements for Summer and Fall 2012

OIT is pleased to have been able to work with student services to deliver the following enhancements to the registration process, which will go into affect for students registering for Summer and Fall 2012.

  • Priority Registration. Allows students to register for classes early, based on number of credits accumulated. Priority registration begins April 9.
  • Prerequisite Registration. Allows students in good standing to register for the next course in an academic program sequence while enrolled in and actively pursuing the prerequisite to that course.
  • Wait List. Students sign up to a wait list for courses that are full and are automatically registered when a seat becomes available.
  • Flexible Payment Options. $60 tuition down payment locks in classes for Summer and Fall.

Issue with Remote ProQuest Database Access

The library research database EBSCO is currently unavailable and ProQuest is only available on-campus. We are working with the vendor to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience. In the meantime, please consult with your library reference staff for alternate research strategies.

Technology Advisory Council Kick-Off Meeting is Friday, March 23

The kick-off meeting for the  Technology Advisory Council (TAC) is this Friday, March 23 from 9 – 11 am at District Office, 226 W. Jackson, 2nd floor.

The TAC will enable City Colleges of Chicago faculty and staff to be more involved with technology decisions, and came about as a direct result of feedback to our new CIO Arshele Stevens as she introduced herself to stakeholders throughout the district.

Check the TAC website for a list of current members and the annual meeting schedule. The meetings will rotate to different locations throughout the district.
